I was not aware of this, but Peter Thiel has offered $100,000 to drop out of college and go to work, instead of finish the degree. I read about it in a Wall Street Journal article (click here). I'm not familiar with all the nuances of his offer, but the basic idea is you would drop out and go to work instead of finishing school. He might have you start a non-profit with that money or something too. Like I said I didn't catch what it was all about.

In the past I've been anti-college because I chose not to go to a 4-year university. I didn't go because I was still trying to deal with breaking my back and almost dying in a rodeo accident my senior year of high school. Even when I was offered the chance to go and have a lot of it paid for by the nice vocational rehabilitation people in Gillette, Wyoming, I still could not do it. I thought I would be miserable, I didn't want to move to Laramie, Wyoming, and I was short sighted.

I'm going to learn more about Thiel's offer. Maybe I could ask him to invest $100,000 in me now, and I'll see what I can do with it in a year's time.
