What is the student to do when the teacher is gone?
I was quite a fan of Rush Limbaugh. I am fairly techie, but I'm not an intellectual. I don't use words like thus and hence in ordinary conversation. Actually, I barely graduated, and paying attention in school was really hard for me. Later in life I could sit still, and I came to appreciate a good education.
I tend to have a dry sense of humor, so I think Rush's sense of humor was one thing that really formed a bond between us.
There are few people that are now deceased that I find myself remembering regularly. Rush is one of those people.
aIt's because anything important going on in the news right now is something Rush would have had an opinion or satirical take on it. I love listening to AM radio every day, whether at home or in the car. And just the sound of AM radio reminds me of the days of Rush, the Doctor of Democracy.
My friends didn't like him. They said he was arrogant, but I think they didn't realize when he was joking. They thought he meant it when he bragged on himself.
When Rush went through his opioid addiction it shocked me, but it didn't change the way I felt about him. I respected him for talking to his audience about it. He set a good example in how he dealt with it. No matter who you are, it can happen to you too. Here's to thinking about Rush today.
